Jackson’s MMA Series III Results

Posted in MMA by lunarskye | Tags: , ,

Last night we attended the third Jackson’s MMA Series promotion held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque. It proved to be an exciting card with Jackson’s fighters going 9-1 with only 3 decisions over the course of the night. The only Jackson’s loss came during the main event when Johnny Bedford sank in an impressive rear-naked choke on WEC veteran Frank Gomez.

The Humble Indie Bundle #2 Passes 1 Million in Contributions

Posted in Gaming by lunarskye | Tags: , ,

The Humble Indie Bundle #2, hosted once again by Wolfire Games, has pushed past the 1 million dollar benchmark, and with 2 days left, it looks to likely surpass the $$1,273,613 raised over the first Humble Indie Bundle.

The format is the same:  pay what you want and divvy up the contribution how you want between the games, EFF, Child’s Play, and a newly added tip for the Humble Bundle team to continue their project.

Funny enough, the spread between Windows/Mac/Linux users is the same as last time as well, with Linux users well in the lead in average contributions.

Don’t forget to go contribute yourself! There’s plenty of time left, and they’re great games for great causes.

Check after the jump for the list of included games, which are DRM free and now redeemable on Steam and Desura. Read more »

Anthony Pettis’ Wall Run Kick’s Origin

Posted in MMA by Lithobolos | Tags: , ,

So it seems the Anthony Pettis kick, that is being called by some “the kick of the century,” has been around for awhile. Pettis stated that he learned the kick from his trainer Duke Roufus, and MMA Junkie reports that Roufus got it from old school Muay Thai techniques that involve more jumping and climbing up opponents. The connection to Muay Thai action movie star Tony Jaa (Ong Bak) is immediately brought up. This being said, what I find interesting is that the only videos I can find on YouTube of people performing the kick tend to be Taekwondo practitioners. Anyway, the main thing to remember is that there is one big difference between Tony Jaa and all these TKD artists and Pettis: Pettis could pull it off when it counted, in front of an audience, and against a real quality opponent.

Check out the video of Pettis’ kick and some others after the jump. Read more »
