Minecraft Coming to iOS and Android By Year’s End
Posted in Gaming by lunarskye | Tags: Android, Gaming, Indie Games, iOS, Minecraft
Minecraft in the palm of your hand? The addictive, cubist, world building game’s creator, Markus “Notch” Persson, says yes. Persson revealed to Gamasutra that Mojang, specifically a new team member named Aron Neiminen, is working on official ports to iOS and Android platforms this year.
This announcement is met with both excitement and a little bit of caution. The thought of being able to craft on the go is great, but at the same time, given that Minecraft itself, which is still in Beta, is a surprisingly taxing application and consistently melts laptops’ faces (including my own) with it’s memory usage, it makes us wonder how it will look and run on a more limited platform. That said, we are very interested and hopeful that Mojang can bring the same success they have seen with the PC release to their mobile endeavor.
Persson did relay that the mobile release will not contain the same updates as the original browser or download versions, but they will include features that “make sense” in relation to the touch-screen nature of the platform.
Preview: Strikeforce Fedor vs. Silva

I can’t believe it’s almost time that we get to see Fedor Emelianenko in action again. His last fight was a surprising fight for all and a disappointment for many, as “The Last Emperor” was tapped out via a triangle choke by Fabricio Verdum. Now we get to see how Fedor comes back from his first real loss in his eleven year fighting career. This fight also marks the first round of Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand Prix, which in my opinion, barring any weird slip-ups, will crown the number one fighter at this weight class in the world.
Fedor’s opponent, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, is a great fighter and has hands as big as his monster jaw. Although I do like Silva, I would like to see this giant fall via a right hand from Fedor or, even more preferably, a stunning armlock.
Sherdog has a great breakdown of the whole card including this match up. In addition, Bloody Elbow has a good list of predictions from their staff on the whole card.
The only thing I can predict about tomorrow night is that I’m going to be sitting in a sports bar in Albuquerque, eating food that’s too expensive for the quality, and not giving a crap because my eyes will be glued to what I hope is a great night of fights.
