Fox Nation is a Jerk

If anyone who has strong political leanings wants to put themselves in an altered emotional state, all they have to do is go to the most extreme and unfiltered blog or forum of their political opposites. Those of conservative leanings would recommend Democratic Underground or Daily Kos I’m sure, but considering our own site has been leaning left, we would like to point out our treasure of the internet crazies: Fox Nation.
Fox News calls itself “fair and balanced,” but it has some of the most right leaning personalities in American media (Hanity, Beck, Napolitano). This could be explained away by saying that their actual reporting of facts on their non-opinion programming is non-biased, but why then would they create and continue to operate a site so filled with biased and anger as Fox Nation? Massive Earthquake and Tsunami Hit Japan
Posted in News/Opinion by Lithobolos | Tags: Japan, Jewels, MMA, News/Opinion
As we were waiting for news about the Japanese MMA promotion Jewels, we were alerted via tweets from martial artists and related groups that the event was canceled due to a massive earthquake.
Now that some time has passed and more information has been uncovered, it appears damage has been terrible and the loss of life great. The 8.9 quake is the largest earthquake on record for the country. Many of the hundreds of deaths seem to have occurred due the tsunami caused by the earthquake that hit off the coast of east Japan. Right now Japanese authorities are responding with all their resources and the world, including the United States, is offering and sending support.
We will continue to keep up to date on the tragic situation via NHK World and BBC News, and of course, we wish Japan a speedy recovery.

For obvious reasons the Jewels event was canceled. We hope all involved are in good health.
Wisconsin Collective Bargaining Fight Takes Dramatic Turn
Posted in News/Opinion by Lithobolos | Tags: News/Opinion, Politics, Wisconsin![]()
The Wisconsin Union/Collective Bargaining Rights battle has taken a sudden and electrifying turn. It seems the GOP in the state quickly moved to reduce the bill in question in such a way that it did not require a quorum, thus excluding the Democratic Senators who were out of state.
The quickness of this act may have been against Wisconsin’s open meeting law which states:
Public notice of every meeting of a governmental body shall be given at least 24 hours prior to the commencement of such meeting unless for good cause such notice is impossible or impractical, in which case shorter notice may be given, but in no case may the notice be provided less than 2 hours in advance of the meeting.
Before the State Senate voted on the bill, it first went through a State Assembly committee where Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D) made a dramatic effort to delay or stop the proceedings. Talking Points Memo has more of the story.

Preview: Jewels 12th Ring
Posted in MMA by lunarskye | Tags: Ayaka Hamasaki, Jessica Aguilar, Jewels, MMA, Shizuka Sugiyama, Women's MMA![]()
Jewels 12th Ring is set to happen March 11, and the main-event is one to pay attention to. Ayaka Hamasaki, Megumi Fujii’s protege and Jewels Lightweight Queen Champion, was set to fight veteran Lisa Ward, but due to a calf injury, Ward has been replaced by fellow 2010 Bellator semi-finalist, and American Top Team fighter, Jessica Aguilar. It will be interesting to see how they match up, especially if the fight goes to the ground.
Shizuka Sugiyama will also be fighting again in this event, and she has gained a spot back on the poster alongside Mika Nagano. Sugiyama will be fighting Mayumi “Super Benkei” Aoki, who shares a two-fight losing streak. We’re hoping Sugi will pull out this win before she departs to Australia where she will be studying abroad for a year.
