Cat Shit One Gets New Trailer and Release Date
Posted in Anime by lunarskye | Tags: Anime, Cat Shit OneI’ve been out of the loop a bit lately, but thankfully I had a little reminder today that led me to check up on some new Cat Shit One info. I learned that the PV trailer I had uploaded on to YouTube, along with virtually all other instances of the video, had been taken down due to a copyright claim by 株式会社 IDA.
Unfortunately, IDA’s channel isn’t available at the moment, though when I checked earlier the new trailer was up but unavailable in the U.S. I have no idea why they’re being so restrictive at this time, but I was able to locate the new trailer on Chinese video site, Youku. Check it out after the jump, and look for the first episode of Cat Shit One July 17th! Read more »
Cat Shit One – Incoming August ’10!!!
Posted in Anime by lunarskye | Tags: Anime, Cat Shit OneAfter continually being told to “Keep our eyes on!” at Cat Shit One’s Official Site, there was FINALLY an update last Friday regarding the status of the much anticipated series. With practically no updates since it’s initial announcement and estimated early 2010 release… which is far gone, I was beginning to think the worse: massive delay or cancellation. However, according to ANN, we should be able to expect the first episode, out of a planned 12, come this August. YAY! It didn’t die!
For those who are unaware, Cat Shit One is an animated adaptation by Studio Anima of the manga series (Apocalypse Meow, Cat Shit One ’80) by Motofumi Kobayashi. Each iteration takes place in a different militaristic era, and in the case of Cat Shit One: The Animated Series, the setting seems to be post-Gulf War 1991.
Speaking from experience with the manga, they really do present a unique way of portraying war through characters that take the form of analogous animals (cute as they may be, the tone is quite serious). Seeing the characters “live” and on screen should really be a treat.
Check out the manga if you can, and watch the (rawesome) PV after the jump. Read more »
Strike Witches Complete Box Set

What do you see here?
So I finally bought the Strike Witches Complete Box Set. Some of you may wonder why I’d buy something like this, while the rest of you (some of which have seen this series already), will either look away in disgust or giddily ask to borrow the damn thing. Read more »
K-1′s Not Immune to the Touhou Invasion
Posted in Anime, MMA by lunarskye | Tags: Cosplay, K-1, Touhou, Yuichiro NagashimaOhhh yeeeeah! Let the flamboyant K-1 entrances begin!
Home to flashy, choreographed, and ultimately entertaining entrances, K-1 has been touched by Touhou. That’s right, and it’s brought to us in the form of none other than the “Cosplay Fighter,” Yuichiro “Jienotsu” Nagashima.
Now, clearly this is not his first foray in to cosplay as he often enjoys dressing up as his favorite female anime characters for fights, interviews, and other events. Yes, I said female. Be it genuine otakudom, gimmick, or psychological warfare, this display gains Nagashima much attention as well as some curious looks (o.O). But you have to ask yourself: how baddass do you have to be to walk out to a kickboxing match dressed up like Miku Hatsune?
Any way you look at it, the answer is: pretty badass.
Just to prove he isn’t all show, Nagashima wound up taking the belt March 27th at the K-1 World Max 2010 Japan Tournament. He won his first two fights of the night via TKO, and the last of the tourney by KO, which brings his professional kickboxing record to 12-3-0.
For each of his bouts, he had a different Touhou cosplay prepared, starting with Reimu, then Eirin, and lastly Marisa.
Do have a look at the entrances after the jump.

Encore for K-ON!: 2nd Season Greenlit
Posted in Anime by lunarskye | Tags: Anime, K-ON!
Looks like it’s time for another round of tea and cake as season number two of the ever popular K-ON! has been officially announced. The first nod was made at the close of Wednesday’s “Let’s Go!” live concert in Yokohama, and later the news was confirmed on the show’s official site, which is also advertising the Blu-ray release of Vol. 7 on January 20th.
Can’t say I’m too surprised given the massive following and merchandising attached to the show, but now it’s time to ponder what the 2nd season will bring. More moe? Clearly. More band members? Perhaps. More music? I’d hope so. More pantsu? . . .

“When They Cry” Complete Box Set Overview
Posted in Anime, Reviews by LegacyTyphoon | Tags: Anime, Box Set, Reviews, When They Cry
If you’re like me, you wait to buy anime until the entire thing is out in a complete package for about 50% less than if you bought all the DVDs separately. Its less expensive, you get more for your buck, and you can spend all night marathoning the series you just bought and get entirely no sleep at all.
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni or “When They Cry” finally came out in thinpack form. I’d been waiting for this series since Geneon first released DVD 1 stateside. Unfortunately, I never thought I’d see the entire thing since Geneon went under. Read more »
Review: K-ON!
Posted in Anime, Reviews by lunarskye | Tags: Anime, K-ON!, Reviews
Originally a 4koma manga created by Kakifly, I’d heard a bit about K-ON! and couldn’t help but notice its warm reception by general otaku and cosplayers alike. I guess that would be expected from a new series out of Kyoto Animation, the same animation studio that brought The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star to the frothing masses.
Soooo… with all the attention K-ON! has garnered, and my own fledgling but pointed interest in learning music and guitars, what the hell, why not give it a watch? Now, I’m not an “OMG it’s so cute! Kawaaaii! Moe moe!” person really, but away from that label, this looked like a short, light, amusing little slice-of life comedy to jump start my recently lackadaisical anime viewing. All in all, it turned out to be just that. Read more »
