“Don’t Say Gay… Say Takei!”

Beloved actor and activist George Takei has released a response to a proposed Tennessee bill known as SB 49, or the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. SB 49, which is still under review by the Tennessee state Senate Judiciary Committee, would ban teachers from discussing, and we assume even acknowledging the existence of, homosexuality in the classroom until the high school level.

So while some want to “disappear” gays and pretend they don’t exist for grades K-8, George Takei has a suggestion: “Don’t say gay… say Takei!” He has launched It’s OK to be Takei and made an awesomely charming video (watch after the jump) to bring awareness.
