Herman Cain Is A Jerk

This post is short. It is short because not that much can be said about the recent comments of Herman Cain on Fox News Sunday. First, let me say that in my humble opinion, the Republican Party’s Presidential candidates all present rhetoric and policies that either intentionally or unintentionally hurt the poor, the middle class, and marginalizes the least powerful in favor of the powerful in this country. That being said, let me say this, with his most recent statements Herman Cain is in the running for the most scary candidate vying for the GOP nomination.
Anyone who can honestly say that all communities in the United States have the right to ban the building of mosques simply because they are Islamic is without a doubt a bigot. Now, I know people can use inflammatory language or accusations concerning prejudice too often and when it is not warranted. Hell, I am guilty of doing it from time to time. Nevertheless, let me put this clearly, Herman Cain is a bigot. He is a bigot who doesn’t know jack about Islam or the right to worship given by the Constitution to people of all religions, including the religion of Islam.
It scares me that someone could say these kinds of things without everyone in the room freaking out that they are running for President, because I would have freaked out.
Here is the soul wrenching video:
A. Craig says:
Herman Cain said today that the protesters on wall street are simply envious of other peoples success and that if we are working a job with little pay than we should simply get two jobs. Mr Cain is an Uncle Tom and a Jerk. I have two under paying jobs, I used to have one good paying job but it was outsourced to the Phillipines. However this got me thinking, is this how all upper class Americans feel? If so America might not be the country for me.
Lithobolos says:
First off Craig. It is perfectly alright to say someone doesn’t look out for the interests of the average person. It is also fine to say that they are a black candidate but not a candidate for black Americans. However, it is never cool to call someone an Uncle Tom. It’s nothing but a slur and there are better ways to express oneself without dehumanizing the other.
On to your other point. There are many wealthy people who do feel they owe something back to their country and others who think they should have to pay higher taxes. The two main problems are those wealthy who don’t feel that way, and more importantly the poor and middle class who don’t vote in their own best interests choosing instead to side with the rich.

It also really sucks you have to work two underpaying jobs to get by. =(
